What a fantastic event on Saturday October 22, 2011. With the 13th Annual running of the Alan C Sundberg Jr Memorial 5k Run, we had over 180 runners finish and many more receive free skin cancer screenings. According to the early reports, the dermatologists from Dermatology and Associates of Tallahassee found 8 people with skin cancer. They will all receive follow up care.

It was a brisk morning with temperatures in the high 40's for the race. We had such a great team with the full force of the Gulf Winds Track Club helping out. I write this to encourage even more runners and walkers to come out next year on Saturday, October 20, 2012 for the 14th Sundberg Run. Next year proves to be even better attended as our Run will be a Grand Prix Event for Gulf Winds Track Club. Free Skin Cancer Screening will always take place. Remember, you do not have to run or walk to get the screening. We save lives every year. Please be a part... Thanks, Bill Sundberg

Maclay Gardens
As in past years, your entry fee gains you access to scenic Maclay Gardens National Park.  Bring your bathing suit and a picnic and enjoy the entire day at Maclay Gardens.

The beautiful ornamental gardens are located on a portion of the park's 1,076 upland acres. The gardens were first planted in 1923 by Alfred B. and Louise Maclay after purchasing the property for their winter home. A masterpiece of floral architecture, the gardens feature a picturesque brick walkway, a secret garden, a reflection pool, a walled garden and hundreds of azalea and camellia plants. Lake Hall offers swimming and fishing, along with non-motorized boating for canoers and kayakers. Pavilions and grills along the shore provide a perfect setting for picnicking. Two short nature trails through the woods overlooking the lake will enthrall walking enthusiasts, while hikers, bicyclists and equestrians can enjoy five miles of multi-use trails surrounding Lake Overstreet which adjoins the gardens. High blooming season is from January 1-April 30, peaking in mid-to-late March.
